Why I Made the Leap and Joined Beautycounter

For the past 5+ years, I’ve been exploring DIY health and beauty products. I started because my son had eczema and the over-the-counter lotions and prescription ointments didn’t help. I continued experimenting with deodorants, lotions, lip balms, and shampoos because I was unhappy with the junk and toxic chemicals in the products my family was using.

While I enjoyed having control over what was in my products, it became time consuming and

expensive. Also, the products weren’t the most effective. I don’t care how many other things you add to a homemade shampoo, but if it has liquid castile in it, my hair becomes stringy and greasy!

That’s when I met Beautycounter. A friend introduced me because she knew I was playing mad scientist in my kitchen whipping up all kinds of homemade beauty and health products. I researched the company and products and was surprised to learn the following information:

  1. Beautycounter bans 1,500 chemicals from being used as ingredients in their products. (That’s 1,500 chemicals other companies CAN put in their products because they’re not regulated in the US.) That is what sold me.
  2. They’re currently lobbying for stricter reform in the cosmetics and personal care industry. We have the right to know what’s in the products we put on our bodies!
  3. They’re a Corp. B which means they hold themselves to higher standards and regulations. Click HERE to find out more about a Corp. B.
  4. Beautycounter’s Founder and CEO is a woman, which is kick ass to me! I love supporting female-led businesses.

I ordered the face wash and night cream and loved the results. Cleaner beauty products that work and I don’t have to make?! A company that fights for good instead of evil?! It’s like the heavens opened and shined down on me. Okay, not that dramatic, but I was sold.

I’ve switched out my face wash, shampoo, kid’s shampoo, makeup and more to Beautycounter. It only makes sense to share my love and knowledge with my friends, family and followers (all two of you!). When you know better, you do better. For me, knowing about Beautycounter has allowed me to choose better products for myself and my kids. After all, isn’t that what we all deserve?
