Knitting is a rite of passage in Finnish culture. In middle school children learn handcrafts and many keep up with it as they advance. Maybe it’s because years ago purchasing clothing was very expensive, but now it’s considered more of a tradition. Pinterest had several beautiful “Finnish” knitting patterns. I’m hoping to knit wool socks or at least a few pot holders before year’s end.
I watched a YouTube video to get the basics. I still have no idea what perling is and how to fix mistakes (or what a mistake looks like) but I’m determined to learn.
